HC grants bail to convict in CWG street lighting scam

Delhi High Court has granted bail to a private firm’s director, who was sentenced to six years in jail in the first conviction in a 2010 Commonwealth Games scam case.

Justice Pratibha Rani enlarged private firm Sweka Powertech Engineering Pvt Ltd’s Managing Director T P Singh on bail as three other co-convicts had already been granted the relief, with the appeal against the trial court’s conviction order not likely to be heard in the near future.

“Taking into consideration that the sentence of the co-convicts has already been suspended and the appeal is not likely to be heard in the near future, the sentence of the appellant (T P Singh) is also suspended and he is directed to be released on bail on his furnishing a personal bond in the sum of Rs 50,000 with one surety in the like amount to the satisfaction of the Registrar Appellate,” the court said.

It directed him to remain present as and when the appeal would come up for hearing and disposed of his bail application filed through advocate Pramod K Dubey.
