The Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court on Thursday directed the state government to immediately initiate talks with striking government employees and submit its report by Friday. A division bench of chief justice Dhananjay Yashwant Chandrachud and justice Rituraj Awasti passed the order on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Shambhavi Tiwari, a law student.
Advocate Upendra Mishra had earlier told the court that government was not initiating dialogue and if it did the employees could consider to call off their strike. The strike by nearly 18 lakh state government employees to press their demand for removal of anomalies in salary structure and amendments in promotion policy and pension benefits entered the 10 day on Thursday.
