The Delhi High Court has sought an explanation from Senior Secondary School, Sadhu Vaswani Marg, Pusa Road, run by Delhi Tamil Education Association (DTEA), for not promoting the wards of eight parents from nursery to class I, despite their clearing the annual exams with good marks.
Justice G S Sistani issued notice to the school on the plea of eight parents who had approached the High Court against the school.
‘The court has asked the school to explain why these children have been expelled from the school. The school has to file its reply by 19 July when the matter would be heard next,’ said advocate Ashok Agarwal, counsel for the parents.
The petition filed by the parents had alleged that the school arbitrarily and illegally did not allow their wards to attend the next higher class (class I), and their queries in this regard received no response from the school.
The petition alleged inaction by the Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi government, responsible for implementation of the provisions of Delhi School Education Act and rules framed under it and to ensure compliance of the same by respondent school.
The petitioners have urged from the court to direct the DoE to take appropriate action.
