Hawkers have a field day as IPL returns to capital

It was a bonanza day for street hawkers and touts, as the Indian Premier League (IPL) came to town for the second time at the Ferozeshah Kotla, here on Friday.
Before the Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad tie commenced, hawkers had a gala time outside the stadium selling fake Daredevils T-shirts, caps and other gear to people coming to watch the match.
‘We get these opportunities once in awhile, so we are trying to make full use of it. I am selling each T-shirt for Rs.150 and I have made some decent money,’ said Pappu, one of the hawkers.
Rupinder Singh also had what he called a fantastic day, painting the Indian tricolour on the faces of the spectators.
‘I am charging Rs.20 for painting the flag on the faces of the fans. I will try to make the most of the opportunity and earn as much as I can by painting,’ said Rupinder.
Delhi Daredevils caps, flags and colourful hats were among the items on sale outside the stadium on Friday evening.
