The AAP government on Tuesday told the Delhi High Court that it has taken a decision to refer to CBI the issue pertaining to alleged irregularities in the allotment of auto rickshaw permits in the national Capital.
A Bench of Justice Siddharth Mridul was told this during the hearing on a petition seeking direction to the Delhi government to register an FIR against the persons allegedly involved in the irregularities relating to auto rickshaw permits. As soon as the petition came up for hearing, the counsel representing Delhi government, said: “This petition is infructuous because the chief minister has already taken a decision to refer the matter to the CBI”. The lawyer appearing for the petitioner claimed before the Bench that the government has admitted that there were irregularities in the allotment of permits for auto rickshaw. “We have lodged complaint with the CM and then to the police but no action was taken,” the lawyer said and alleged that they have been receiving threats not to pursue the matter. However, the counsel for Delhi government objected to it and said that the petition was “motivated” and told the bench that government has decided to refer the matter to the CBI to take necessary steps in accordance with law even before this petition was filed.
