Haryana police officer held for raping student

A Haryana police assistant sub-inspector was on Thursday arrested for raping a 19-year-old girl student from Delhi, police said.
Police officer Sanjeev Kumar, posted at the Palam Vihar police station here, committed the rape on Wednesday night in Sector 5 area of Gurgaon.
‘The girl had come from Delhi with her boyfriend. They booked a room in a hotel in Sector 5. The police officer reached the hotel and in the name of inquiry, he locked the boyfriend inside a washroom and raped the girl,’ deputy commissioner of police Vikas Dhankhar said.
The accused threatened to inform the girl’s family about her stay in the hotel.
The hotel owner told police that renovation work was in progress and only one room was available and that was allotted to the couple.
