Haryana is one of our best performing States. The State is growing faster as compared to the country as a whole and there are a large number of areas, including Social sector, Health, Education, Industry, Agriculture etc., in which Haryana has introduced innovations. These should be highlighted, so that other States may also follow.
These views were expressed by the Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia after the meeting with Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, in connection with the finalization of State’s Annual Plan Outlay for 2013-14. An Outlay of Rs. 27072 crore was approved for Haryana for the year 2013-14 by the Planning Commission.
Dr. Ahluwalia said that Haryana is urbanising at a fast pace. Demand for water in urban areas is also increasing, for which the Haryana Government has prepared a comprehensive strategy, besides tackling the problem of solid waste management.
Hoods said that the State Government is laying stress on inclusive and sustainable growth, so that the benefits of the development may reach the common man. We are following the policies of UPA Government at the Centre and the guidelines given by the Planning Commission, which have highly benefitted the State, he said.
Hooda said that the Plan Outlay of the State in 2005 was about Rs 2300 crore, which now has reached the level of Rs 27072 crore in 2013-14. Our first priority is Social Services sector and the second priority is the development of infrastructure in Irrigation, Power, Roads and road transport and projects under the economic stimulus package.
Hooda said that Haryana’s achievement in agriculture is commendable.
