Haryana MLAs meet today, Khattar may be named CM

Khattar, an old RSS hand, is known to be a hard taskmaster and also reported to be close to prime minister Narendra Modi. In the event of the meeting remaining inconclusive, party sources said, the MLAs would adopt a resolution empowering the BJP parliamentary board to name the CM. The party as per the schedule would stake claim on Tuesday evening and the new government would be sworn in
before Diwali.
Though the name of Khattar is almost certain, the little uncertainty exists as BJP went to the polls without announcing any chief ministerial candidate. This has led to several other leaders aspiring for
the top slot.
These includes party state unit chief Ram Bilas Sharma, party leader Anil Vij, Kisan Cell leader OP Dhankar and former spokesperson Abhimanyu Sindhu.
Since the BJP got its leadings from the non-Jat areas of the state, the chances of having a non-Jat chief minister very high. Given that the party doesn’t have any experienced face to choose from, there was some discussions on having a woman leader from the Centre as chief minister but the possibility of that happening still looks remote.
