Haryana introduces Radio Cabs for Gurgaon and Faridabad

Residents of Gurgaon and Faridabad will soon avail radio cab facilities in their city. Haryana government has invited applications for grant of permit to operate radio cabs in Gurgaon, Faridabad and Panchkula region.
Manoj Khatri, secretary of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) at Gurgaon said that the permits will be granted in three categories - economy cabs, luxury cabs and super luxury cabs.
He further said, ‘the permits will be granted for plying radio cabs in Faridabad, Gurgaon and Panchkula and the area of operation of cabs will be within 50 km radius of the concerned district headquarter.’
The applicant should be either a company registered under the Companies Act 1956 or a society under the Societies Registration Act 1860 or a firm, to be eligible to operate radio cabs under the said scheme. The maximum fare for economy cabs will be Rs 12.5 per km, whereas for luxury and super luxury cabs it will be Rs 20 and Rs 30 per km, respectively.
In addition to the fare, 25 percent extra fares shall be charged between 11 pm to 5 am. The minimum fleet size per operator shall be five cabs for Panchkula and 20 cabs for Gurgaon and Faridabad each. The cabs shall be available at all times. Unique number shall be provided by each operator for operating the call centre. There will be a colour scheme for different categories of radio cabs. All the cabs shall be in white colours with different coloured strap for different category.
While the economy cab will have Sky Blue coloured strap, luxury and super luxury cab will bear dark blue and golden colour band, respectively. In case of Gurgaon and Faridabad, ‘NCR Radio Taxi’ logo will be used on the vehicle.
