‘Haryana govt responsible for Ballabgarh riots’

Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday blamed Haryana’s ruling party BJP for the riots in Ballabgarh’s <g data-gr-id="49">Atali</g> village which left nearly 250 Muslim families homeless with many injured seriously. The Party asked <g data-gr-id="45">prime</g> minister and <g data-gr-id="46">home</g> minister to intervene into the matter to get justice for the victims.

A team of AAP MLAs visited the village last week in an attempt to broker peace. In its ‘fact-finding report’, AAP blamed <g data-gr-id="39">administration</g> for the clashes in the village.

“The clash between the communities happened entirely due to the negligence of the BJP administration,” said senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh.

“Since May 26, all Muslim families are staying outside their homes and took shelter in police stations. We are going to send a detail report to <g data-gr-id="40">national</g> human right commission soon,” he added.

Meanwhile, the situation in <g data-gr-id="36">riot-hit</g> village is starting to cool down.

At least five persons were injured and around 15 houses gutted after a clash erupted between two communities over <g data-gr-id="41">construction</g> of a religious structure in <g data-gr-id="44">Atali</g> village in Faridabad on May 25.

About 400 victims have been staying at a makeshift camp at Ballabhgarh police station ever since the incident took place.

“We demand a judicial probe into the incident to ensure that this kind of communal violence does not spread to other parts of Haryana,” said Singh.

All the accused should be arrested immediately and FIRs should be filed against individuals identified by the victims as perpetrators of violence. <g data-gr-id="34">Follow-up</g> of the FIRs should be made by the police to ensure quick trials and conviction, he statement added.

On the evening of May 25, a violent mob attacked the community with bricks, swords, and petrol bombs. The assailants broke into their homes and set about 20 houses on fire.


Cong MP seeks HM intervention
 A Congress MP on Tuesday demanded Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to order immediate arrest of the perpetrators of May 25 Ballabhgarh clash in which five persons were left injured after two communities fought over the construction of a religious structure.

Congress MP Hussain Dalwai called on Singh on Tuesday and sought arrests of the attackers as identified by the victims of the communal violence that took place in <g data-gr-id="69">Atali</g> village in Ballabhgarh area of Haryana’s Faridabad district. “I have requested the Home Minister to order immediate arrests of the attackers that have been identified by the victims, and thus assure their safe return to the village. 

“The Home Minister assured me that he shall speak to the Haryana CM to make every attempt to resolve the issue and ensure the safety of the victims,” Dalwai said.
