‘Dikshit says that her government has changed the face of Delhi but what to say about Delhi even the situation of her constituency is pathetic. The redevelopment of Connaught Place which falls in her constituency was scheduled to be completed before Commonwealth Games in 2010 but it is still in shambles,’ said Vardhan. ‘It is filled with potholes and many people have broken their legs and arms because of falling in them,’ he added. He further blamed the delaying tactics of the authorities which has increased the projects cost several fold.
Vardhan also flayed Dikshit for her failure in improving the life standard of over 30,000 people living in 13 slums in her constituency.
‘More than 15,000 families in Balmiki Bastis are living in pathetic conditions. The condition in the
backyards of the MPs and ministers is hellish. Nobody is taking care of it,’ said Vardhan.
It’s an irony that she is representing the areas consecutively since the last 15 years but could not do anything to improve the living standard of slum dwellers.
He further alleged that Dikshit, who is an MLA from New Delhi, could not keep her promise to redevelop 16 dhobi ghats falling in her assembly constituency, which are a source of income for over 10,000 thousand people.
Vardhan also alleged that Dikshit could not use Rs 1.75 crore legislator’s fund while slum dwellers in her constituency are struggling for water, power and toilets facilities.
