The body of 10-year-old mentally-challenged boy, who was missing from his house since 22 October, was found in a half nude condition in a forest in Usmanpur Pusta area, near New Usmanpur, in north-east Delhi on Wednesday morning.
Prima facie, it seems that the body was partially eaten up by animals. However, senior officer said that at present it is difficult to say as to what caused the death and whether the boy was sexually abused before death.
Police said that the deceased, a resident of 2nd Pusta Road, in Usmanpur Pusta, had gone outside to play with his friends on 22 October evening. ‘The incident came to light after a passerby discovered his body on Wednesday morning around 10 am and made a PCR call, informing the local police. The police immediately rushed to the spot and found a badly mutilated body in a decomposed condition,’ a senior police officer said. He was identified later.
‘He had gone missing from outside his house on 22 October. But when he did not come back till 9 pm, his family members searched for him in the neighbourhood. Even after searching for long, his father, a rickshaw-puller, could not trace him. Later he approached the police and registered a case at New Usmanpur police station.
‘We are waiting for the postmortem report. There is a possibility that the boy was sodomised,’ said an official.
Last month, a similar incident occurred in Khajuri Khaas area when two people abducted a five-year-old boy and his three years old sister. They murdered them after abusing them sexually.
