Gurgaon road rage case: Five arrested

In yet another incident of road rage, two youths were allegedly beaten up by five persons near Gurgaon Sector 10 on the night of January 15. Within 24 hours, the accused were arrested, police said on Tuesday.

According to the police, the victims — identified as Satyavan Prasad and Pawan Kataria — had accidentally brushed past a parked car at around 9 pm in Gurgaon’s Sector 10. The owner of the other car was sitting inside the vehicle, who entered into a heated argument with Satyavan and Pawan. However, the duo claimed that the matter was settled there.

Later, when Satyavan and Pawan parked their cars near a park, they were surrounded by a group of youths — one of them was the driver of the car they had accidentally brushed passed.

The five persons — identified as Rizwan Khan (23), Sunny (28), Zuber Khan (26), Irshad Mohammed (20) and Parvez Khan (23) — allegedly thrashed Satyavan and Pawan with hockey sticks. Satyavan managed to escape and raised an alarm after which people from nearby localities gathered at the spot. The accused had fled by then. A special police team was formed after registering a case under relevant sections of IPC and on January 16, the five accused were arrested from near the Water Treatment Plant in Gurgaon, said police.
