Gurgaon deputy Mayor booked for thrashing rape victim

Gurgaon deputy mayor Parminder Kataria, who is facing rape charges, has now been booked for thrashing and beating the alleged rape victim, police said on Thursday.

Kataria, who is facing two rape cases, was booked on charges of voluntarily causing hurt, criminal trespass, criminal intimidation, criminal conspiracy and crime by several people with common intention under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

A case was filed against him at Rajendra Park police station.

The woman alleged that she was blocked on the way to her house in Laxman Vihar area by three unidentified men in a car.

Later, the three men entered her house and beat her up and threatened her with dire consequences if she did not drop the rape charges slapped on Kataria.

He was booked for the second time on January 20 on charges of raping a divorcee after promising to marry her. The woman had filed a similar complaint in October last year.

The woman said she had filed a rape complaint on December 11, 2015, against Kataria at the women police station here, but alleged that police refused to register the case.

The second case was registered after the woman’s lawyer sent legal notice to Gurgaon’s Deputy Commissioner of Police Deepak Saharan for contempt of the Supreme Court’s directions.

The woman alleged that Kataria visited her house in December and again sexually assaulted her.

On October 24, 2015, the woman had filed a case of rape and criminal intimidation against Kataria and two others.

On December 1, she filed an affidavit in the district court, saying she was known to Kataria and his family and did not want any action against them.

Kataria, who was granted interim bail in the rape cases, was not available for comment.
