Gun violence: 2 persons shot in separate incidents, 1 dead

The first incident was reported from east Delhi where the deceased was identified as Dilshad Khan. On the Geeta Colony flyover, an unknown person, who was piling on a motorcycle, opened fire at him. Eyewitnesses told police that in the first round of firing, Khan fell to the ground. Further the pillion rider, who was a wearing his helmet, got off the motorcycle and shot him twice over again.
When the accused managed to flee on the motorcycle, bearing no number plate, one of the eyewitness made a call to the police control room. A police team reached the crime scene and rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The deceased received three bullet injuries on his head causing death on the spot. According to the family members, the police officials have kept the body in the mortuary and did not try to establish his identity and inform his family members. On Wednesday morning, concerned officials at the hospital scanned his clothes and found few phone numbers written on a piece of paper that was found in his pocket.
Later in the afternoon, the body was identified as Dilshad Khan. Accordingly it was learnt that the deceased too had a criminal background. ‘Prima facie it seems like a case of personal enmity.
Further investigation is underway,’ a police official said. A case of murder has been registered against unknown persons at Geeta Colony police station.
In the second incident, a bouncer at Aqua pub was shot in Rajouri Garden area. The incident took place on Tuesday night at around 11.30 pm, when the bouncer identified as Pankaj, was on duty. A person who introduced himself as Pankaj’s friend asked the guard to call him outside the pub. The moment he stepped out of the pub, the armed assailant opened fire at him. He received gunshot injuries on his left thigh and is undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, in another case on Wednesday, a 26-year-old property dealer was shot in his head at his office in sunlight colony of south-east Delhi. The accused still remains unidentified. The victim has been identified as Naveen Sharma and is undergoing treatment at AIIMS.
