Gujarat beat Maha in West Zone T20 league

Skipper Parthiv Patel led from the front with a 53-ball 70 as Gujarat thrashed Maharashtra by 62 runs in a Twenty20 zonal league (west zone) match on Sunday. Put into bat, Gujarat posted 171 for six. Patel struck two sixes and six fours in his knock and was well supported by Venugopal Rao, who made a 27-ball 47.

The duo stitched a partnership of 80 runs for the third wicket to help their side post a big total. Chasing a stiff target of 172, Maharashtra were bundled out for just 109 with almost three overs left.

Maharashtra got off to the worst possible start as they lost three wickets in the second over. Jasprit Bumrah castled India under-19 skipper Vijay Zol and Rahul Tripathi, while Harshad Khadiwale was run out in the same over and Maharashtra found themselves at three for three.

Maharashtra never recovered from the early jolt and were eventually folded for 109 in the 16th over.
