Former BJP MLA Gopaldas Bhojwani and his two sons have been booked on Tuesday for cheating a city realtor with over Rs 4 crore, police said.
‘A case of cheating has been registered against Gopaldas Bhojwani and his two sons Mukesh and Naresh on the complaint filed by Shaival Reality Pvt Ltd director Naresh Patel and further investigation is on,’ Satellite police station senior inspector Ashok Pandya said.
Another director of Shaival Reality is Mayur Desai, who is the son-in-law of former BJP chief minister Keshubhai Patel who parted ways with Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi and formed the Gujarat Parivartan Party (GPP).
According to the complainant, Gopaldas Bhojwani, who is also a property developer, built a ten-storey shopping-apartment complex, Gopal Palace, at Nehru Nagar circle in 1990 and Shaival Reality had bought 30 properties in there.
‘In September 2011, Gopaldas offered us to buy back some of the properties and a deal was finalised for Rs 8.47 crore. By January 2012, he paid around Rs 3.78 crore in instalments,’ said the complainant.
