In a major reshuffle, the Gujarat government on Sundaytransferred 38 Superintendent of Police (SP) rank officers, 31 of them from IPS cadre, including SP of Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) Himanshu Shukla.
Among those transferred is N K Amin, an accused in the Ishrat Jahan and Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter cases, who has been posted as SP of Mahisagar district.
A notification regarding the transfers was issued by the State Home department past midnight. Of the total 38 officers shifted, 31 belong to IPS cadre while seven are State Police Service (SPS) officers.
Shukla is now the Bharuch district SP. He will be replaced by SP of Arvalli district Mayur Chavda, who belongs to SPS.
