Guidelines set for schools to ensure no malpractices in inter-state transfers

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has formulated guidelines to ensure that malpractices in inter-state transfer category admissions for nursery schools.

DoE has asked schools to be extra cautious while dealing with applications of inter-state transfer candidates. The new guidelines come after it was found that people were using fake certificates to secure admissions for their children. Inter-state transfer candidates are given five extra points as a result of which several candidates with their residences in Delhi were claiming to be candidates from the NCR.

A senior government official said, ‘Now schools will have to prepare data of applications received under inter-state category with particulars such as number of applications, place from where transfer took place, number of applications especially received from NCR region sharing border with Delhi. In case the school finds the applicant’s genuineness under the transfer category to be doubtful, the five points will not be given.’

DoE may also constitute a special team/s of officers for random checking of schools for verification of such claims. ‘Schools shall produce such certificates for the inspection of the team/s especially constituted for this purpose by the Directorate of Education. Such inspections may be carried out at any given point of time including during post-admission periods too,’ the order said.

Non-compliance of this order will be taken seriously and will invite strict action against the school management under the provisions of the Delhi School Education Act and Rules, 1973. If found guilty, the candidature application will be cancelled.
