Grievance cell set for DUSU election

A grievance committee, headed by the dean students welfare, has been constituted in view of the Delhi University (DU) Students Union election-process gaining momentum.
‘A grievance committee, headed by the dean students welfare, has been constituted for clarification and smooth functioning of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU)elections,’ a senior DU official said.

‘The varsity has also put a cap of Rs 5,000 on the permitted expenditure per candidate. Further, a candidate can only use handmade posters at certain designated places on the campus, to be notified by the university authority in advance,’ the official added.
The elections are scheduled for 13 September.

The colleges and the department concerned have also been directed to install closed-circuit television cameras to videograph the entry and exit points during the elections.
Realising the importance of social networking, the varsity has also allowed a one-page profile of the student contesting election to be uploaded on Facebook and the DU election website.
It can be done only on approval of the screening and scrutiny committee, to be constituted by the election commissioner.

The university has also enforced and warned students of disqualification and criminal punishment for not adhering to the Code of Conduct, Lyngdoh Committee guidelines and the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007.
