Graphic artist Gunen Ganguly breathes his last

Well known graphic artist Gunen Ganguly, who used imagination, shapes and colour to give a special blend to his paintings, died here after a brief illness.

Born on 1 May 1924, in West Bengal, Ganguly, who was trained in Italy, passed away at a hospital here last night, his family said. He is survived by wife, a daughter and a son.

Winner of National Award for Art, he was closely associated with AIFACS. His paintings have been exhibited in Paris, Geneva, Poland and Africa.

His works were also displayed in exhibitions at the National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi, Sahitya Kala Parishad, Lalit Kala Akademi, Birla Academy, Kolkata and Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai.

He was known for his ‘Moon and Vulture’ and several other works inspired by still life.
