Graft cases: Former tax astt, principal held guilty

A CBI Special Judge in Bhopal convicted a former tax assistant, working in the office of Income Tax commissioner, Bhopal, of bribery and <g data-gr-id="13"> and sentenced</g> him to three years rigorous imprisonment.
The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict, Anand Singh Shah. Shah was caught red-
handed accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant, against whom a <g data-gr-id="15">complain</g> was registered in the IT department, for handing over the copy of the complaint to him.
In another case, a CBI Special Judge, Ernakulam, convicted a former principal of a training college in Kerala for demanding a bribe of Rs 5,000 for processing and issuing a pass certificate to a person.
Following the <g data-gr-id="17">complain</g>, ex-principal Dr N Mallikarjuna was caught red-handed. The court sentenced him to two years <g data-gr-id="18">rigrous</g> imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on him.
