Goyal, Pradhan launch Multi Skill Centre at NTPC-Talcher Kaniha

A Multi Skill Centre  at NTPC Talcher Kaniha was inaugurated by Minister of State (Independent Charge) for   Power, Coal and New & Renewable energy Piyush Goyal and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Petroleum & Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan  at Talcher in the presence of NTPC CMD A K Jha, Director (HR) U P Pani and Odisha Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare, Employment and Technical Education & Training Sanjay Kumar Das Burma.

Piyush Goyal said that setting up of multi-skill development centre is a long standing requirement of Odisha to provide skill training in different trades keeping in view the requirement of local industries. In his address, Goyal said Talcher Kaniha is one of the best power station of the country, lighting up many states including south of India and shall now contribute towards skilling local youths.

Dharmendra <g data-gr-id="32">Pradhan,</g> informed that 40 youths will be trained in skill development  in the first batch at Skill <g data-gr-id="31">Centre ,Talcher</g> Kaniha. He lauded the role of  PSUs including NTPC for construction of toilets in schools under <g data-gr-id="40">Swaach</g> Vidyalaya Abhiyan  and making the program a big success. Sanjay Kumar Das Burma, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Govt of Odisha , expressed happiness to be part of this initiative of NTPC to help the youth of industrial area “Angul” to develop  their skills.

NTPC is supporting the skills development initiative of the Government of India, in line with the Skill India Mission, by partnering with the Central and State governments to improve the availability and quality of skilled workforce by upgrading/ transforming infrastructure and the quality of vocational education in the country in order to make it demand driven and ensure better employability of the skilled youth.

A K <g data-gr-id="35">Jha ,CMD</g> <g data-gr-id="36">NTPC ,</g> assured  NTPC’s commitment towards the Skill Building Schemes promoted by the Government  of India towards making India the skill capital of the world in line with the Skill India Mission.   Talcher Kaniha in Angul District of Odisha state is one of the locations that have been identified to establish a Multi Skill Centre in collaboration with Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

The NTPC-Talcher unit has provided <g data-gr-id="26">the space/</g> building to NSDC to setup a Multi Skill Centre. NSDC and its Training Partner will setup classrooms and computer lab, etc with all required machinery & equipment, trainers, etc required to impart training in courses that are recognized by National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF).
