The AAP government has decided to revamp the anti-corruption helpline in Delhi that was implemented in January last year and pulled off after Kejriwal resigned as the Chief Minister within 49 days. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia briefed media persons on Tuesday, about the matter after the government Cabinet meeting. He said that the helpline will be revived. The helpline staffs are being given proper training now.
“The purpose of launching this helpline is to create fear in the minds of corrupt individuals,” Sisodia said. According to sources, over 60,000 complaints were received last time that are still pending.
Sisodia said that the helpline makes every Delhi citizen an anti-corruption crusader. An initiative of the AAP government, the helpline had a call centre comprising 15 graduates, which was set up at an undisclosed location with two administrators — one a former CEO of a software company and the other, a social activist, who were in-charge of the helpline operating out of the CM’s office.
Sources said that the call centre will be revived and a new set of volunteers will take over the helpline, guiding complainants to give in their grievances relating to corruption.
