Acquiring the combative mood for the upcoming winter session starting from November 22, the UPA government is all set to transact business in the House. Parliamentary affairs minister Kamal Nath made it amply clear that the government will be introducing nearly 35 bills during the 16 days available for business during this session. The bills which will be taken up for consideration and passage include the Companies Bill, 2011, the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2011, the Insurance Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2008, the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Bill, 2011, and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Bill, 2012. The government will try to evolve consensus for a smooth winter session of parliament said Nath. ‘The government will try to evolve as much consensus as possible on transacting business. We will see what is the maximum we can do in that short period,’ said Nath.
The government has listed 35 bills, 25 for consideration and passing and 10 for introduction in the winter session which will have just 16 days for business.
