Govt to introduce 1,725 new buses for rural commuters

Delhi government on Sunday said it would soon introduce a fleet of 1,725 new buses, exclusively for rural commuters.
Out of the 1,725 buses, 30 per cent would be luxury buses, Delhi transport minister Ramakant Goswami said at the foundation stone laying ceremony of a new ultra-modern DTC bus terminal at Bindapur here.
To further improve transport facilities in west Delhi’s areas, it has sanctioned feasibility studies for a Monorail project, he said. The DTC Bus Terminal at Bindapur in west Delhi will be spread over 1,750 sq metre, which is being constructed by the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation, Goswami said.
The total project cost is estimated to be Rs 1.5 crore.
