Govt teachers to get training in first aid

School teachers will soon have to step up to heal the wounds of students. Directorate of Education has decided to impart first aid training to Delhi government school teachers.

According to the Directorate of Education, initially, training will be given to 100 teachers. It will be given in three batches, and the Directorate has selected 30 teachers from the Central district. They will receive the training from 11 am to noon. From south district , the Directorate has selected 40 teachers to receive training from noon to 1 pm. And the third group from south-west district has 30 teachers to get training from 2-3 pm.

It is mandatory for the selected teachers to attend the training daily.

Satpal, Additional Director of Directorate of Education [sports], said, ‘In the wake of many accidents at schools, the concern for the safety of students has brought forth this first-aid scheme.’

He added, ‘generally in schools, teachers are not well aware of first aid techniques.’

The training is scheduled to be organised with the assistance of St John Ambulance Association, Red cross bhawan, Golf Links, [Adjacent to Banglow No-107], near Khan Market, Sujaan Singh Park, New Delhi-110003, from 1 October to 11 October.

The training will not be given on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted holidays.

The participating teachers will be entitled for the conveyance charges of Rs 50 per per day, which will be reimbursed on the concluding day of the training.
