Delhi government has signed a Memorandum of Unerstanding with a private forensic laboratory, Truth Lab to seek their help in solving number of criminal cases.
This is first time in India when government has sought help of a private lab to solve criminal cases.
A few days back, Archana Arora, principal secretary (Home) signed MoU with Truth Lab’s chairman Dr Gandhi PC Kaza at Rohini. ‘The government-run forensic laboratory at Rohini is under immense pressure. It has less staff and equipment and it deals with criminal cases of entire Delhi which makes it virtually impossible to deliver the reports on time before the police so it can be produced before the court as an evidence,’ a senior Delhi government official said.
The sole objective of the MoU is to solve urgent cases pending for a long time for want of enough experts and expertise. At present, more than 2300 cases of white collar offences such as fraud, cheating, misappropriation, embezzelment are pending with Delhi police.
