Delhi government’s principal secretary (Power) and CMD, Delhi Transco Limited, Arun Goyal on Monday visited the complaints and customers care centres of BSES (Yamuna and Rajdhani) and Tata Power Distribution Companies.
In a season, where power demand has peaked to 3101 MW in the last 24 hours, power discoms in the national capital, under the garb of scheduled maintenance, are organising power cuts for the last three weeks. In the summer power demands go up to 5000 MW. Load-shedding, lasting for almost seven hours at a stretch has left parents worried, due to ongoing Class X and XII CBSE examinations.
Delhiites will have to face even longer power cuts, scheduled for 11 and 12 March. Power discoms on Monday informed they have scheduled maintenance work for their transformers, lines and other electrical installations. Areas covered under Reliance-led BSES (Yamuna and Rajdhani) will be more affected by this shortage in supply, in comparison to areas that receive electricity from Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL). In 159 areas that receive electricity from both the BSES discoms, power will be unavailable for approximately seven hours.
Meanwhile, in 67 areas receiving electricity from TPDDL, power cuts are expected to run up to a maximum of seven hours. According to Delhi Transco Limited, BYPL will go on planned maintenance between 10 am to 5 pm on 11 March. Localities facing power cuts as a result will include Chandni Chowk, Darya Ganj, Dilshad Garden, Karawal Nagar, Karkardooma, Krishna Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Mayur Vihar phase-1 and 2, Nandnagri, Pahar Ganj, Patel Nagar, Shankar Road and Yamuna Vihar.

In TPDDL-run areas, residents will have to face major power cuts for four to seven hours on 11 March in areas such as Rohini, Shalimar Bagh, Mangolpuri, Narela, Bawana, Pitampura, Badli, Civil Lines, Shakti Nagar and Model Town.

Areas covered by TPDLD on12 March will face power cuts lasting between four to seven hours.
