Govt moves to protect city from possible Yamuna floods

The Delhi government is ensuring that the city resident’s remain effectively protected from a possible floods in the Yamuna river. Delhi irrigation and flood control minister Dr AK Walia announced that the government is going to take a number of measures in this regard.

Walia informed that the Flood Control Board, of which he is the chairman, on Monday cleared 27 major proposals that are expected to cost Rs 62 crore with a view to strengthen embankments, improve drainage system, construct access roads and bridges, carry out anti-erosion works around Yamuna.The meeting was attended by some very senior officers of the Delhi government.
