Govt forced to go for CBI probe after Rahul’s visit: Cong

Congress on Wednesday sought to take credit for CBI probe ordered by the Haryana government into the killing of two Dalit children in Faridabad, saying Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Sanped village “forced” the BJP dispensation to seek an inquiry by the central agency. “After the pressure created by Rahul Gandhi’s visit the Chief Minister ordered a CBI probe into the incident,” Haryana PCC president Ashok Tanwar said. Tanwar, along with Rahul, today met the distraught family members in Sanped village. “Sanped was not an isolated case as there have been numerous incidents of crimes, including against Dalits. Rapes, murders, kidnapping for ransom and other serious crimes have become the order of the day ever since the BJP government took over reins in Haryana a year back,” Tanwar said. “Even in Faridabad today, villagers recalled at least eight to ten incidents of violence against Dalits,” he said. The Congress leader claimed that the Dalit family told him that they were under pressure by the state government to cremate the bodies of the toddlers. “When we met the family they claimed there was pressure from the government on them to conduct the last rites of the toddlers. The family was demanding immediate arrest of all the culprits and action against the police officials who failed to protect them,” he said. On the postponement of Khattar’s visit to the village, Tanwar said, “It is clear that the government cannot face the anger of the public.”  Khattar on Wednedsay postponed his visit to the village.
