Doing business in India will become easier and job prospects will improve following a host of procedural changes and proposed amendments in labour laws including that of the Factories Act and the Apprentices Act, labour minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, while outlining the achievements of his ministry in the first 100 days of the NDA government.
Among the major initiatives of the ministry is the development of a single unified labour portal for online registration of units, submission of annual returns, reporting of inspections, and redressal of grievances.
Tomar said the web portal will contribute proactively with the aim to achieve compliance in labour regulations and harmonising compliance across Labour Acts and organisations. ‘Multiplicity of labour laws and complexities in compliance have been a matter of concern for a long time,’ he said.
