Govt asks officials to keep adulteration in check during Diwali

The food safety department of Delhi government has instructed all its officials to ensure good quality sweets are sold in the city ahead of festival of Diwali.
VP Rao, commissioner of food safety department said, ‘demand of sweets will increase during Diwali and there is an apprehension that adulterated or sub-standard quality material will be sold in the market. Therefore, as a precautionary measure, we have given directions to all designated officers and food safety officers to keep rigorous surveillance.’
He further added that periodical inspections will also be carried out to check adulteration, for the proper implementation of food safety and standards Act, 2006, in a strict manner.
