Govt approves last help to Sikh migrants

The Delhi Cabinet on Monday gave its nod to the payment of accumulated pending electricity dues amounting to Rs 6.57 crore for migrant families who were allotted flats at Peeragarhi Camp.

These families had moved to Delhi after the anti-Sikh riots of 1984 from Punjab. They were given shelters in Peeragarhi.

Chief Minister Shela Dikshit said 'The Cabinet has decided to make payment of accumulated pending electricity dues amounting to Rs6.57 crore up to September 2012 to BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) as a one time measure.
