Gotye sets 6 Feb date for Capital

We've heard him on music channels, sung the songs hoarse at karaoke nights, and now it is time to mark out a date for next year to hear him live. Wouter 'Wally' De Backer, better known as Gotye, that's his stage name, has set his date with the capital next year. The name 'Gotye' is derived from 'Gauthier', the French equivalent of 'Wouter'.

The Belgian-Australian multi-instrumental musician and singer-songwriter has captured the music scene with the single Somebody that I used to know where he performed with Kimbra. The song released in 2011 reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 almost instantly.

Though he has had albums like Boardface and Drawing Blood before he made it big with Making Mirrors (the album included Somebody that I Used to Know), Gotye is best known for that maiden hit and Eyes Wide Open. Critics have compared Gotye's voice to Peter Gabriel and Sting.

Gotye is right up among the top Grammy-nominated artists this year, having picked up three Grammy nominations including the prestigious Record Of The Year for his 2011 release Making Mirrors. Gotye and his duet partner Kimbra have been nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group for their worldwide smash hit Somebody That I Used To Know
,’ and Gotye’s third nomination comes in for Best Alternative Music Album for Making Mirrors. Gotye also swept the pool at the 2012 ARIAs (Australian Recording Industry Association). He won more awards than any other artist, picking up a total of six awards, including Best Male Artist and the prestigious Album of the Year for his acclaimed release, Making Mirrors. Gotye was also voted by the public as Australia's Best Live Act.

Gotye's maiden concert in India is a part of the Oz Fest that is scheduled for February next year. The Grammy nominated artist will be performing in the finale on 6 Februrary at Blue Frog. So mark the dates out – you don't want to miss this one!
