Google CEO addresses SRCC students

On Thursday Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC)  hosted the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Google Sundar Pichai. The moderator for the event was renowned cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle. 

Speaking at this event for over an hour ,with keeping the aspirations of this young generation in mind and the market which his company wanted to cater to, Sundar Pichai spoke with candour, reflections and wit that resulted in a thunderous applause from the audience  along with creating an atmosphere of inspiration in many young minds.  Pichai acknowledged the statement from Bhogle that it was easy to attain number one but sustaining it was difficult. 

Replying to this statement, Pichai said the key to succeed is  to constantly innovate, build products for future and provide solutions to problems . Giving a personal example, Pichai said in America, people were pleasantly surprised of him not being another successful India doctor. Pichai advised that to be successful it was important that you follow your heart which then also would result the young generation to be more ambitious, take more initiatives and risks. 

Pichai hailed the education system of India, however, stated that for taking it to the next level, development of skills, creativity and a problem solving approach is needed to be encouraged. When asked that will the name of next Android version be based on the Indian dessert, Pichai said that he would ask for recommendations from his mother, as from discussions centered to desserts like Peda and Payasam. Pichai said he would put the options to online poll to understand the popular choice.

Pichai also  said that using Youtube without internet connection will be conceptualised first in the Indian market. Pichai stated that high user interface is significant for not only fueling the entrepreneurship streak in India but also women empowerment and Google’s initiative in launching wifi at 100 Indian Railway stations was a step in this regard.
