Gogoi seeks Rs 9,370 cr from Centre

Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday sought a Rs 9,370-crore assistance from the centre to mitigate the problems faced by floods and rebuild damaged infrastructure, and rehabilitate victims and strengthen embankments. Gogoi submitted his demand through a memorandum to union home minister Rajnath Singh, who paid an aerial visit to flood-affected areas of Assam and Meghalaya during the day.
‘The state government in its memorandum to the union home minister sought Rs 2,010 crore for damaged infrastructure, which includes roads and bridges, dwelling houses, health centres and school buildings,’ an official release said.
