Goa Lokayukta to be sworn in on 16 March

The Lokayukta for Goa will be sworn in on 16 March, following the state cabinet giving its final approval in this regard on Wednesday last. The cabinet also passed the state Litigation Policy alongside appointments of election cells, mamlatdars in both North and South Goa Collectorates , according to the Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
Noting that the government has decided to divide the work in view of problems faced in handling law and order, and hearing cases on such as mutation matters, he said the election cells would deal with election-related work, while the appointments of mamlatdars – six in North Goa and eight in South Goa – to handle the law and order and mutations cases.
