Goa got 25 pc additional funds this FY despite mining ban: CM

Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar has said the state received 25 per cent additional funds this fiscal as compared to the last financial year, despite a ban on the mining industry.

‘For the current financial year, till now, the fund flow has been 25 per cent higher from the corresponding year.

This is despite the fact that mining is not bringing any revenue. If mining starts, we will be able to get it to 35 per cent,’ Parrikar said. The Parrikar-led government came to power in the state on 9 March, 2012, after winning the assembly elections.

The chief minister said the administration had totally collapsed when he took over the affairs of the state, which is now limping back to normalcy. ‘By December we should be to able to improve much,’ he said.

There was ‘total adamancy’ by the then UPA Central government when BJP government took over in the state, he alleged.
