Girl stopped from carrying phone, mother thrashes school staff

A woman allegedly thrashed staff of a private school after her daughter was stopped from carrying a mobile phone by the latter, police said on Friday.
The police said the girl brought a mobile phone to the school on Monday. The school staff confiscated the cellphones of three students, including her’s. The school does not allow students to bring mobile phones on campus, said Jyoti Nagrani, the school’s director.
Later, the girl’s mother, Taranjeet Kaur, barged into the school’s Chief Executive Officer’s (CEO) office. She allegedly locked the door from inside and thrashed him without seeking an explanation.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV (close-circuit television) cameras installed in the school campus, footage of which have been handed over to the police, said Nagrani.
Following a complaint received from the school authorities, the police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Taranjeet Kaur and are investiging the matter.
