Girl shot at for resisting molestation in Ghaziabad

A 21-year-old girl, working with a private company, was shot at while resisting a molestation bid in Ghaziabad on Tuesday night. The victim, who was heading towards her house after finishing her duty, was targeted by six bike-borne youth and was injured while opposing them. The police admitted the girl at a hospital in Delhi where she is said to be recuperating and have registered a case in this regard also.

Police said that the incident took place in Laxmi Garden. The girl had come out of a shared auto near Shisham Chowk when a group of assailants on three bikes tried to molest her amid the crowd. 

The accused, who were inebriated, gathered around her and started harassing her physically and also thrashed her for several minutes. The victim then made a PCR call which irked them and one of the accused allegedly fired bullets at her out of which one pierced into her leg.

The passers-by intervened, forcing the assailants to flee the spot. The girl was admitted to GTB hospital where her condition was stated to be stable. 

“We have registered a case at Loni police station and are searching for the accused. We are checking CCTV footages in order identify them,” said a police official investigating the matter.
