Delhi police on Monday ‘rescued’ a girl, allegedly a minor, who was apparently locked up inside the basement of a brothel in Central Delhi’s GB Road area. The victim however, refuted any of those claims.
According to the police, they conducted a raid following a tip-off on Monday night and rescued the girl from brothel number-42 in GB road. The victim, who hails from Andhra Pradesh was brought to Delhi recently on some false pretext.
Police said that though they were sure that the girl was a minor. However, she kept denying the fact and claimed that she was an adult. Later, she was brought to the local police station where female constables questioned her. However, she maintained that she was not a minor and that she had come into the flesh trade out of her own will.
The girl was later produced before the Child Welfare Committee which sent her to Nari Niketan. Taking a note of her claim of being a minor, the court has asked the Delhi police to verify the age of the girl. Further investigations are underway.
