Girl molested in Rohini school

According to the police, the matter came to light when the girl refused to go to school. Despite
repeated attempts being made by the parents the victim did not go to school. However, after persistent questioning, the girl told her parents on Wednesday narrated her ordeal to her mother.
The parents then reported the incident at the police station at Rohini (south).

‘Police rushed to the school immediately along with the victim. Based on her statement, the lab-assistant was arrested for his alleged involvement in the act,’ said a police official. He further said, the accused, Harender (40), was immediately arrested and produced before a court. From there he was sent to 14-days judicial custody.

Later it emerged that the accused had allegedly molested the victim at least three to four times in the past few months. ‘The accused has been booked under relevant sections of IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police is also trying to investigate if the accused has molested other students too,’ said a senior police official. The victim has been given counselling by an NGO in the presence of her mother, he added.

According to a source, the accused was immediately suspended by the school authorities.
