Ghaziabad police to launch 'Rules on road' to ease chaos

The Ghaziabad police will on Thursday launch 'Rules on the Roads' – a month-long awareness drive to create awareness among people and streamline the unruly movement of traffic in the district.

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police Vipin Tada, who is the nodal officer of the exercise, during the programme police personnel will focus on the violation of traffic rules, encroachment on roads by traders that causes snarls, jumping of red lights by errant drivers, obstructive vehicle parking on busy roads.

Tada said that traffic congestion was the biggest problem in the district, which was due to <g data-gr-id="18">encroachment</g> of roads by shopkeepers and traders who showcase their goods for sale on the <g data-gr-id="14">road sides</g>.

Pedestrian movement is also obstructed on the road pavements. <g data-gr-id="22">Traffic police will</g> also guide the vehicle owners to respect the right of pedestrians to have free movement on the Zebra crossings? Errant vehicle drivers will be prosecuted for flouting traffic rules, the officer added.
