A day after opening of hi-tech police control room, the Ghaziabad police on Friday got a shot in the arm with 195 new paroling vehicles including 85 PCR vans in its existing fleet. The Ghaziabad police now have over 250 patrolling vehicles in the entire district. It may be noted that the district police had added 75 PCR vans in its fleet last year.
While flagging off the new vehicles, senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Ghaziabad, Dharmendra Yadav, said as many as 12 PCR vans have been allotted in jurisdiction of Indirapuram police station and 10 each for Sahibabad and Kavinagar. “The patrolling vehicles have also been allotted in the same proportion”, Yadav said.
Yadav further said the state government has spent Rs 7 crore to modernise the Ghaziabad police. Seven hundred police personnel have been assigned to the job of handling public complaints in a hi-tech control room which receives feed from 150 CCTV cameras installed across the city at strategic locations.
“The high resolution CCTV cameras can capture images even in fog and poor light. The images will be sent to the control room which through GPRS system would instruct the patrol vehicles to act accordingly.
