Ggn municipal commissioner held hostage

In an anti encroachment drive led by the commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon, Nathupur villagers pelted stones on senior officials of MCG and held the Commissioner of MCG, Praveen Kumar, as a hostage on Thursday night.
The incident occurred on Thursday at around 10 pm, according to the police. When a team accompanied by MCG officials went for the demolition of a few illegally built houses in the area, local villagers gathered at the spot and started pelting stones on the police and MCG team.
‘They also torched two government vehicles and injured six MCG officials along with police personnel.
‘The situation came under control after more police forces were called in. They also held the MCG Commissioner, Praveen Kumar a hostage,’ said a senior police official.
‘The police after registering a case in DLF Phase-III police station, on Friday arrested 12 local villagers in this connection.
‘We are investigating the case and more arrests may be possible,’ the official added.
