Ggn deputy mayor’s son goes missing from tuition

The 17-year-old son of Gurgaon’s deputy mayor Parminder Kataria’s, has been missing since 15 October, police said on Monday.

The boy, identified as Amit Kataria, had reportedly left home earlier also on two occasions after having disputes with his family. According to his relatives, Amit went for tuitions in  Gurgaon Sector 5 area at around 11.15 am on 15 October and never came back.

A police official said that the family filed the missing complaint on 20 October. ‘The family members said they looked for him for five long days, and finally on 20 October, they reported the matter at the Sector 5 police station,’ the officer added.

He further said, Amit had left home many times in the past after disputes with his family members.
The last such incident happened around 15 days prior to the present incident. ‘He went missing after a fight and returned home in two to three days,’ he said.

Since Amit is a minor, a case of kidnapping has been registered and police has started investigating the case. However, Kataria has told police that the family has not yet received any phone call demanding ransom money.

Amit, studies in class 11 at Gyandeep Senior Secondary School in Gurgaon’s Sheetla Colony. His father Parminder Kataria is a member of Bharatiya Janata Party, which runs the 35-member Municipal Corporation Gurgaon.
