Ggn cops seize Rs 24 lakh in new currency denominations

In what can be considered as a sizeable recovery of cash in new currency notes, the Gurugram Police have been able to recover more than twenty-four lakh rupees in new currency notes.
During its routine check, the team from the police station of DLF Phase-1 caught two Maruti vans on the Gurugram- Faridabad Road near the Gwal Pahari area.
The police later found that they were transporting a huge sum of Rs 40 lakh.
Upon further inspection, the police found that in the sum of forty lakh, about twenty four lakh fifty-five thousand five hundred rupees were in new currency notes.
The police sources have mentioned that there were 1,208 new two thousand currency notes that were found.
The people held will now be interrogated by the income tax officers.In the past week, sums of Rs 17 lakh and Rs 10 lakh in new currency notes have also been recovered by the police.
