Gehlot to award trainees who clear motor driving course

Union Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot will distribute course completion certificates, driving licences and  employment letters to successful trainees of  ‘Commercial Motor Driving Training Programme with Self Defense Skills for Women’.  

The programme is being organised by the National Safai Karamcharis Finance & Development Corporation (NSKFDC) at SCOPE Complex, New Delhi, on Wednesday. Senior officers from the Ministry, Apex Corporations, NSKFDC, Training Institutes, Azad Foundation, Uber, Ola and other dignitaries will be present. 

During the programme, 250 candidates who have undergone/are undergoing Skill Development Training Programmes in various trades under Self Employment Scheme for Rehabilitation of Manual Scavengers (SRMS) /NSKFDC schemes will be present. 

Gehlot will distribute the course completion certificates, driving licences to the successful trainees and also hand over the Employment Letters to the trainees who would be provided employment by Azad Foundation, Uber, Ola and other reputed organizations. In future, these trainees will get the commercial driving license from the respective authorities and can get suitable jobs as a commercial driver and may also avail financial assistance for purchase of commercial vehicles through Delhi SC, ST, OBC, Minorities, Physical Handicapped Fin. and Devp. Corporation (DSFDC). 

The minister also distributed the Loan Sanction Letters to the beneficiaries for E-rickshaw and handed over the keys also which are financed through DSFDC. Gehlot also felicitated Tina Dabi who topped UPSC Civil Services Exams 2015. 

On the occasion, Gehlot said that the ‘Commercial Motor Driving Training Programme with Self Defense Skills for Women’ for 200 women in Delhi organised by NSKFDC, is an excellent and unique initiative, as it will meet the objective of social & economic empowerment of women by creating job/self employment opportunities for these women, belonging to the families of Safai Karamcharis. 

The Self Defense Skills will provide self confidence not only among these women drivers, but would also give a sense of security to the women passengers, particularly, those who have to travel at odd hours, the minister said. 

The Minister appreciated the initiative of NSKFDC, as it serves the twin purpose of security for women and their economic empowerment, which is the foremost priority for the government.
