Gehlot rejoices Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana success

“Rs 29,000 crore have been provided to 39,000 beneficiaries under this scheme so far,” Gehlot said.
The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to implement the scheme successfully in every sector of society. “People belonging to SC, ST, and OBC are being taken care of by the ministry and it is PM Modi who has taken the initiation to empower them,” he said.

The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana scheme, announced by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley during the 2016-17 Budget, aims to provide funds to people, including women, from all strata of society and help them involve in micro- entrepreneurship programmes.

The National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC), an apex body formed under the aegis of the Ministry, on Wednesday signed an MoU with two leading commercial transport companies –Ola  and Uber –in order to impart skill and rehabilitate safai karamcharis.

Last year, the NSKFDC, along with the Azad Foundation, had started a training programme to rehabilitate safai karamcharis, especially, women who belong to their families. “About 450 women have been engaged in this platform,” Gehlot said.

He added, “The PM has strictly instructed 1, 25,000 bank branches across the country to provide loans to at least one man and one woman from each family, notably to those who belong to backward classes.” Successful trainees will get commercial driving licences from Ola and Uber and can get suitable jobs as commercial drivers.

“It is a platform to empower people from backward classes. There are 12 sectors, including manufacturing, motor mechanism, plumbing and others, where they can learn and empower themselves,” Gehlot said.

The Minister also awarded completion certificates, driving licences, employment letters to 250 candidates, who underwent skill development programmes in various trades. He also felicitated UPSC topper Tina Dabi.
